Therapy With Dogs May Not Be Helpful For Children With Autism

A new study has found that using therapy dogs with autistic children may not be beneficial, or at least not for all. When it comes to helping autistic children cope and thrive in life, there are always a variety of different interventions that are used. There are countless forms of therapy, and it can be overwhelming to try and find one that works.

One that has been showing promise, and is growing in popularity, is dog therapy. Using dogs, or any animals, as part of therapy has been shown to help children who are struggling with a lot of challenges. It has been helping children who have mental health challenges, physical disabilities, and children who have been diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder.

According to Medical Xpress, a new study has found that therapy dogs are not always the best route for autistic children. This was shown through a study that the University of Missouri did, and it can be read in full here.
